Samsung Star 3G S5603 Review

Samsung has launched a new touchscreen mobile phone known as Samsung Star 3G S5603. It is for those who are looking for the touchscreen phone at an affordable price. The Star is a handy phone which is smaller in size, extremely comfortable and light weight handset. It has lots of excellent features, smooth interface and comes with a large 2.8 inch QVGA Touchscreen with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. The touchscreen really responds well to the fingers. Lack of  QWERTY keyboard disappoints. It has a very good photo gallery which tilts automatically into the landscape mode because the phone recognizes the movement.

Some of the best features of this phone:

Accelerometer sensor for auto rotation
A 3.0 MP camera with smile detection (with LED Flash)
Screen Lock button
Network 3G/ EDGE/ GPRS/ HSDPA available
Touchwiz UI
MicroSD Card (expandable upto 16 GB)
FM Radio
MP3/WMA/AAC player

The phone has some pre-installed applications like FM tuner, RSS Reader, Voice Recorder, Games, share pictures on portals like Facebook, Picasa, Flicker and Photobucket. Star has internal memory of 80mb of which 60mb is usable. The network connectivity of the mobile is ok. The music player is decent. The battery life is average if you are using applications or listening to music. One of major drawback is the absence of Wi-Fi facility instead of being 3G enabled mobile. The Google Maps worked good.

Overall, I can say that it’s a good featured touchscreen phone for those looking at an affordable price. It costs around Rs.12,600 (MRP). It has to compete with rivals like HTC Touch Viva and the LG’s Cookie.

Certainly not! Although the mobile is very impressive but there have been some complaints regarding touch screen problems but on reaching service centre they replace it with good one within warranty period. So, make sure you choose your mobile properly.
